Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Attacked at Official Residence: Public Hearing Turns Violent

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta: According to the Bharatiya Janata Party, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was allegedly assaulted on Wednesday during the ‘Jan Sunvai (public hearings)’ programme held at her residence, Civil Lines. Delhi Police has arrested the accused man. He is 35 years old.

The attacker assaulted Rekha Gupta during the hearing. He approached her, gave her some documents, then suddenly slapped and pulled her hair. Rekha Gupta was left in shock, even though she did not sustain any serious injuries. Medical personnel were sent to her home immediately for an examination.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sahdeva condemned the assault on Rekha and gave detailed information regarding the incident. The accused went up to the Chief Minister and handed him some documents. He then grabbed her hand, trying desperately to drag her toward him. Sachdeva explains that he was caught immediately by those present.

Sachdeva stated that Delhi CM Rekha Gupta’s condition is stable, despite the fact that she received a slight blow to her scalp during the fight. Doctors examined her. She is an amazing woman. She seems to have suffered only a slight blow to the head. He said that the slap stories or the stone-throwing reports were fabricated, and dismissed exaggerated accounts about the severity.

He said that incidents of this nature in politics were to be condemned and that Rekha’s hearing programmes would continue on schedule. Jan Sunvai is continuing. “The Chief Minister has told us that, although she is currently resting, she won’t cancel any of her shows,” Sachdeva said, underlining Rekha Gupta’s dedication to the public, even after the tragic incident.

The BJP called the incident a plot and expressed concern about public servants’ safety during interactions with the citizens. The party demanded an investigation to find out if it was planned or a random act of violence by a disgruntled individual.
