Mathura (India): The spiritual leader Swami Aniruddhacharya has been at the centre of controversy after a video circulated showing him making derogatory comments about an unmarried woman. This video shows a recording of comments that were made at a religious gathering held by Gauri Gopal Ashram. It has sparked protests and legal complaints.

Women advocates of the Mathura Bar Association filed complaints against the SSP in response to the backlash. The women’s advocates deemed the remarks sexist, anti-constitutional, and demanded greater accountability.
Swami Aniruddhacharya warned his audience of the dangers posed to them by AI-manipulated content. He claimed that anonymous actors were spreading fake videos in order to defame him. His Instagram account has been pinned with a message addressing this issue and encouraging followers to be vigilant about misleading content.
