Delhi Concert Controversy: Honey Singh Addresses Backlash Over Viral ‘Gaadi Mein S*x Karo’ Comment

The renowned Indian music producer and rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh issued an official public apology after a controversy erupted over a live performance. Backlash arose from Honey Singh’s viral video, which was captured at a concert held in Delhi. In the clip, the singer made comments about intimacy within vehicles during winter. Many viewers found the comments obscene, inappropriate and unsuitable for public platforms. This led to a lot of trolling and teasing on social media. The singer was forced to explain his intention and apologize.
Honey Singh’s viral video, which showed the rapper performing at a concert with artists Nanku and Karun, triggered the controversy. Singh addressed the crowd and commented, “Gaadi Mein S*x Karo, Dilli Ki Thand Mein.” Further, he urged his audience, “Please use condoms, guys.” “Play safe.” The advice was deemed offensive by many internet users, even though the last part of it advocated protection. Some critics argued that such language wasn’t appropriate for an official celebrity to use at a large gathering.

Honey Singh responded to criticism on January 15 by releasing a written and video note. The artist acknowledged that people are susceptible to mistakes in his response to the Honey Singh video. He said, “Insaan, we are all statues of errors.” The artist said that the video that was circulating on the internet had been misrepresented, and his main goal was to raise awareness among youth about the importance of safe sex.

Singh’s written statement explains the background to his words. Singh said, “I would like to respond to a video that has been circulated on the internet and caused many people to feel offended and uncomfortable.” “I sincerely apologize for the way in which the words I spoke were delivered and the offensive views that resulted from it.” His intent, he clarified, was not to hurt or insult anyone but to raise a serious issue.
Honey Singh explained that he met with gynecologists and had discussions about the concert before. They had raised concerns about sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), especially among younger people, due to the unprotected nature of sex. The rapper reportedly retained this information. He tried to emphasize the importance of protecting the Gen Z audience members. He said he was using “OTT language”, in relation to the Honey Singh controversy, because he thought it would be the kind of language that younger generations could easily understand and consume on digital platforms.

Singh concluded his apology by expressing regret for the way he delivered his message. However, I regret the manner in which I delivered this message. It was not appropriate and unacceptable to many. My heartfelt apology goes out to anyone who was hurt or felt disrespected. “I promise to be more responsible and mindful in the future with my words and actions,” said Singh. Honey Singh’s viral video has ignited a larger conversation on the responsibility public figures have when they address sensitive issues like sexual health in public.
