Anupam Kher Shocked After Son Sikandar Playfully Hits Him in Viral Video; Actor Reveals Lost Roles
Anupam Kher’s son Sikandar Kher surprised him this week by playfully hitting his face during an unscripted video taken at their house. This incident has been widely shared on social media. It occurred soon after Anupam Kher returned from his dental treatment. Anupam Kher made some significant revelations in the lighthearted video about his previous projects and his interactions with industry giants such as Javed Kapoor and Boney Kapoor.
At the beginning of the video, a father and son duo engage in casual banter. Anupam had recently been to the dentist for a tooth extraction. Anupam mentioned during the conversation that one of his cheeks was numb following his tooth removal. Sikandar used this temporary numbness to tease his father, teasing him about the inability of that side of his cheek to feel any pain.

Sikandar, who is known to share candid moments on Instagram with his dad, said a phrase about someone hitting their father’s back with their hand. The veteran actor felt the mischief as he placed his hand close to Anupam Kher. His son asked him, “Kya Karne Wala Hai (What will you do?)?” Sikandar was about to do the act, and Anupam Kher sensed it. Anupam Kher issued a humorous warning. “Zyada Zor Se Laga Na, Ulte Haath Ka Marunga, Naak Pe Teri, Naak Tod Dunga” (If I am seriously hurt, I will slap you and break your nose).
Sikandar hit Anupam on the cheek despite being warned. Anupam was visibly stunned as he clutched at his face, in shock. Sikandar was unfazed and asked his father, “Kya Karoge Aap” (What Will You Do)? Before hitting him again. Anupam Kher, in a move that thrilled fans, responded by reciting a line from one of the films he had done with the late legend Dilip Kumar. He was trying to diffuse the situation using his trademark humor.

Anupam tried to calm the tension as the playfulness continued. The actor turned away from Sikandar as he was about to strike him, and pleaded, “Nahi, nahi, nahi beta” (No, no, son). Anupam grabbed Sikandar’s hand and said, firmly, “Aisa Nahi Karate.” You shouldn’t be doing this. Don’t do it.” Sikandar gently brushed his father’s face to end the interaction. Anupam protested when Sikandar said he was going to upload the video onto Instagram. This is a private matter between us.
The video was a goldmine of Bollywood trivia. Anupam and Sikandar talked about industry veterans such as lyricist Javed Akhtar. Anupam revealed Javed Akhtar’s daughter Zoya Akhtar had cast him as a guest star in one of her movies, but later removed the scene from the film.
Anupam Kher shared an essential story about the 1987 classic Mr. India. He revealed that he had been selected to play the iconic villain Mogambo. This role was eventually played by the late Amrish Puri, who became one of Indian cinema’s most iconic characters. Anupam said that Anil Kapoor, the producer Boney Kher and Anil Kapoor removed him from the film.

Sikandar Kher wrote in the caption of the photo that the video was dedicated to those industry icons mentioned by the two. “For Javed (uncle), Boney (legend), Amrish (legend), Anil (uncle), Shekhar (uncle), enjoy #KherSaab following his dental work.”
