Anu Rani Viral Video: Meerut Sub-Inspector Suspended Over Alleged Objectionable Content, QR Code in Live Streams
Meerut: Uttar Pradesh Police Sub-Inspector Anu Rani has been suspended following allegations concerning her social media activity, including claims that objectionable content was shared during live interactions and that a personal payment QR code was displayed during livestreams.
The action was taken by senior police authorities in Meerut after videos and allegations concerning the officer’s online activities circulated on social media.
SI Anu Rani Suspended Over Social Media Activity
According to the information available, Meerut Senior Superintendent of Police Avinash Pandey issued the suspension order, citing an alleged violation of departmental guidelines governing the use of social media by police personnel.
The controversy reportedly began after a social media creator raised questions about Anu Rani’s online presence and shared content related to her social media activities.
Anu Rani had reportedly used her platforms to share fitness-related posts, gym routines and personal lifestyle content while identifying herself as a UP Police officer.
The allegations also focused on her use of a personal QR code during live sessions, which prompted questions over whether the online activity amounted to monetisation or self-promotion inconsistent with departmental regulations.
Viral Videos Under Investigation
Police authorities have clarified that the videos circulating online do not show Anu Rani wearing a police uniform.
However, officials are examining whether the nature of the content and the manner in which the officer identified herself as a police official were consistent with departmental social media rules.
The matter has now prompted a two-pronged investigation.
The Cyber Cell is examining the viral footage to determine its authenticity and establish whether any of the videos were edited, manipulated or taken out of context.
At the same time, a departmental inquiry has been initiated to examine whether Anu Rani violated service rules through her social media activities.
Circle Officer Soumya Singh to Lead Departmental Probe
Circle Officer Soumya Singh has reportedly been assigned responsibility for the departmental investigation.
The inquiry is expected to examine the officer’s social media activity, the use of the QR code during livestreams and the allegations surrounding the content that circulated online.
Authorities will also look into whether the material being shared on social media accurately represents the original livestreams.

The suspension is an administrative action while the investigations are underway and should not by itself be treated as a final finding of misconduct.
The Cyber Cell’s examination of the footage could determine whether the viral videos are authentic or have been digitally altered. Meanwhile, the departmental inquiry will assess whether any service rules were breached.
The case has also renewed attention on social media guidelines for police personnel, particularly as officers increasingly maintain public-facing profiles and interact with audiences through platforms such as Instagram, YouTube and other livestreaming services.
