C. P. Radhakrishnan won the Tuesday vice-presidential elections by a decisive margin. He defeated B. Sudershan Reddy, whose joint nomination was also in opposition. This election was prompted by Jagdeep Dhankhar’s sudden resignation on July 21 due to his health.

This was a momentous occasion as both the incoming and the departing Vice-Presidents shared the same room. Hamid Ansari, Venkaiah Naidu, and other former Vice Presidents were present to highlight the importance of this occasion.

India’s political leaders were present at the ceremony, including BJP President J.P. Nadda, Prime Minister Narendra Naddi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and Home Minister Amit Shah. The importance of C. P. Radhakrishnan being appointed to such a crucial role in the constitution was underscored by their attendance.

C. P. Radhakrishnan, after the oath, embarked upon a tradition tribute tour to pay floral homage at important national memorials. In Rajghat, he paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation, and then proceeded to Sadaiv Atal, where he paid respects to the former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. In Kisan Ghat, he paid tribute to former Prime Minister Charan Sing.
