Heavy Rain in Delhi Disrupts Flight Operations

New Delhi (India) – July 29, 2025 Heavy rains and thunderstorms provided relief to the humid conditions of Delhi’s weather on Tuesday, but caused significant disruptions, such as flight operations.
IMD (India Meteorological Department) forecasts widespread, heavy rains across India’s various regions until August 4, 2018. On July 29, heavy rainfall will be expected across Northwest India, including East Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. In the next week, other regions, such as Northeast India and East and Central India, as well as South Peninsular India, will experience varying intensities of rain accompanied by thunderstorms and high winds.
Air India issued an advisory for passengers about possible flight delays in Delhi because of gusty winds and rain. The morning flight to and from Delhi may be affected by gusty winds and rain. The airline sent out a message through official channels advising passengers to check their flight status and give themselves extra time before they head for the airport.
IMD also predicts thunderstorms on July 30 with gusty wind speeds between 30-40 km/h and lightning in some isolated areas, including Jammu & Kashmir, Bihar, and Gangetic West Bengal. Kerala and Karnataka, which are coastal states, will likely experience strong winds with a surface speed of up to 50 kmph in the coming days.
In several areas of India, heavy rainfall and extreme conditions will continue to affect normal services and life. To ensure safety, travelers are encouraged to stay informed about weather alerts and transportation advisories.
