Frank Caprio Passes Away: Judge Francesco “Frank” Caprio passed away after a brave battle against pancreatic cancer at the age of 88. Frank Caprio leaves behind an incredible legacy that has touched the lives of millions around the world and has a deep connection with India.

The judge, who hails from Providence in Rhode Island, was a beloved figure for his compassion and approach to justice. Frank Caprio has passed away, after showing unimaginable kindness in his courtroom for decades. Francesco Mohapatra was a Mumbai-born baby who had been named after Judge Caprio. The judge was delighted when Manish Mohapatra, a Mumbai resident, informed him that his son, Francesco, had been named in his honor. Mohapatra said to Caprio during a video call: “I am aware that there is a rule of Law, and the personification of that rule of Law is Mr Frank Caprio.” This extraordinary act of generosity from India made the judge feel “honored” and “humiliated”.

Indian-Americans were also affected by the judge’s influence. Jamila Siamwala was a Brown University Professor who appeared in front of Caprio five years ago for a violation. She came with her Indian father, Dr Haidry Siamwala. The judge invited him to the bench, where he ruled on Jamila’s case.

Frank Caprio has passed away after touching the lives of countless Indians, including an unidentified software engineer who appeared before his court in 2023 to be cited for parking outside a no-parking zone. In addition to dismissing the case because of inadequate signage, the judge asked the defendant in a humorous way to assist the court on software issues.

Filomena Fund was created in honor of his mother by Indian viewers, who were inspired to donate generously and help those facing fines. This fund is now managed by the Rhode Island Foundation, which continues Caprio’s kindness legacy.
