PM Narendra Modi Flags Off Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara Launched: India’s First Global Electric Vehicle Export

Maruti Suzuki E Vitara: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, marking a historical milestone for India as it was India’s very first electric vehicle that is designed to be exported worldwide. Maruti Suzuki e-Vitaras will be exported to over 100 countries, including Japan. This establishes India as a hub of electric vehicle production.

Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur manufacturing plant in Gujarat hosted the launch ceremony, which saw the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara roll off the assembly line. The electric vehicle is a major step forward in India’s automobile industry and shows the growing capability of India to develop sustainable transportation technologies.

PM Modi inaugurated, as part of the same event, a lithium-ion manufacturing facility that is state-of-the-art, which was a joint venture between Suzuki, Toshiba and Denso. The facility is designed to produce batteries for hybrids and electric cars, which will strengthen India’s ecosystem of electric vehicles. This battery plant will play a key role in making electric cars like the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara more accessible and affordable to Indians.

After the Maruti Suzuki E-Vitara’s successful launch, Suzuki Motor of Japan announced an investment of Rs 70,000 crore over five or six years. The company will use this substantial investment to increase production, launch new vehicles, and defend its market leadership in the third-largest automobile market on the planet.

Maruti Suzuki’s e-Vitara is launched at a moment when India has made a rapid transition to electric mobility. It is anticipated that the vehicle will meet safety and quality international standards. This makes it more competitive in global markets. Suzuki Motors’ biggest market, both in terms of sales and revenue, is India. The Japanese automaker maintains its dominance through its ownership stake in the market leader Maruti Suzuki.

The Maruti Suzuki E-Vitara is a game-changer for India’s Electric Vehicle Sector, according to industry experts. Made-in-India, the electric vehicle addresses not only domestic demands for environmentally friendly transportation but also positions India as a hub of clean energy vehicle manufacturing.

It is anticipated that the successful export of Maruti’s eVitara into over 100 countries will generate substantial foreign exchange for India, while also creating thousands of new jobs in the automobile sector. The government has a vision to make India the global leader in manufacturing under its Make in India initiative. This initiative is in line with that.
