Tejashwi Yadav is the Mahagathbandhan’s Chief Ministerial Face; Alliance Dares NDA

The Mahagathbandhan has announced Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav as their Chief Ministerial Candidate for the forthcoming Bihar Assembly elections. This announcement was made during a press conference held in Patna. It marked a momentous unity among the various opposition groups after weeks of negotiations on seat-sharing arrangements.
Ashok Gehlot, Congress veteran and former minister of state for foreign affairs in the United States, officially named Tejashwi Yadav. He cited his youthfulness and dedication as reasons why they chose him. Gehlot, in a direct attack on the National Democratic Alliance ruling party (NDA), said: “I would like to ask Amit Shah… Our leader is Tejashwi Jadav.” They should now confirm the face of their NDA Chief Minister. Gehlot said that Rahul Gandhi, a senior Congressman, had supported the choice to promote Tejashwi Yadav. Mukesh Shani is the leader of Vikassheel Insaan Party, and the alliance has also announced that it will be a candidate for Deputy Chief Minister.
In a statement to the media, Tejashwi expressed his gratitude for the alliance partners and reiterated their shared goal of rebuilding Bihar. Yadav criticized the NDA for the lack of clarity surrounding its leadership. “Nitish Kumar is facing injustice. Tejashwi said that there has not been an announcement that Nitish is the NDA Chief Ministerial Face. We want to question Amit Shah: You have declared Nitish as the NDA’s Chief Ministerial Face before each election. Why not now? Nitish’s final election is taking place. Amit Shah made his position clear.”
The formal declaration is a strong demonstration of unity within the Mahagathbandhan. One of the key figures at the press conference said, “Today’s press conference represents the Mahagathbandhan showing its unity following weeks of tension over seat sharing.” Tejashwi’s appointment as Chief Ministerial Face by the Congress party resolves any uncertainty that existed and helps solidify the strategy of the alliance as they prepare for the highly-charged election in Bihar. The opposition wants to show voters a united front with Tejashwi Yadav in charge.
