Diljit Dosanjh Controversy – Singer touched the feet over Onscreen Gesture

A Diljit Dosanjh controversy involving the Punjabi actor and singer has attracted significant media attention. The popular Punjabi star addressed threats against him made by a Khalistani group. Dosanjh was criticized for touching Amitabh, the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati 17, as a gesture of respect. The banned Sikhs for Justice group threatened to take action against Dosanjh for this gesture.
Diljit Dosanjh controversy started when an advertisement for the episode airing on October 31 was released. Diljit Dosanjh pays his respects to Bachchan in the video. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the SFJ’s chief, issued a threat to cancel Dosanjh’s concert scheduled in Australia. Dosanjh responded by posting a clarification on his Punjabi Instagram story, explaining his true reason for appearing on the national televised show.
Dosanjh’s post read, “Na Mai Kisey Film Di Promotion Lai Geya c, Na Kisey Ganey Di Promotion Lai. Punjab Floods Lai Geya C..Ke National Level Te Gal Hove.. Te Loki Donate kar Sakan.” It means, “I didn’t go there to promote a film or song.” “I went to the Punjab Floods… to have the issue discussed on a national level, and for people to come forward and donate.” This message shifted focus from Diljit Dosanjh’s political threats to his humanitarian intention to raise money and awareness for flood relief efforts.
Diljit Dosanjh’s controversy highlights the cultural and political dynamics that are at work. SFJ viewed the singer’s gesture, a tradition Indian show of respect, through a political prism, which led to public threats. Dosanjh wanted to change the narrative by clarifying his motives, highlighting his dedication to social causes and political affiliations over his personal advancement. Since then, the incident has sparked a wide-ranging discussion between fans and the public on cultural gestures as well as the pressures that public figures face.
