We are aware that an employee has acted in a very unprofessional manner during off-hours. Violence of any type is not acceptable and does not represent the high standards that we hold for our employees. We terminated the employee’s employment on Monday,” wrote the company in the comment section of an article.
According to reports, the altercation began after restaurant staff determined Afkari had consumed excessive alcohol with her friend. Miguel Marchese, a bartender at San Francisco’s KRON4 media outlet, said that the staff became worried about their behavior quickly. When the couple refused to accept the bartender’s service, the situation escalated. The alleged assault was captured on camera.
The San Francisco Police Department arrested Afkari after the incident. Video footage quickly went viral online. It showed the bartender in the fight being aggressive with the staff.
Even in the off-hours, companies are quick to take action when employees’ conduct is contrary to their values. Strava moved swiftly to distance itself from the violent actions shown in the viral videos of bar fights, stating that their standards do not allow for violence.
