BLP Leader Mithun Chakraborty Denies Allegations of Attacks on Bengali Migrants; Calling Mamata Banerjee’s Political Fearmongering

Kolkata (India) – BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty categorically denies allegations that Bengali migrant worker attacks have occurred in other states. He accuses West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata of spreading false information to create fear in order to gain political advantage.
Chakraborty, in a press conference on Thursday evening, dismissed the claims of Bengalis being harassed by people outside West Bengal. These are lies. Who are the Bengalis being attacked? Chakraborty said that this is an attempt to incite panic and to manipulate emotion to gain votes. Banerjee, he said, is trying to dominate the Bengali identity discourse by inciting baseless fear.
The BJP leader cited his personal experiences and said, “I’ve lived and worked across several states in the country, and I have never experienced any hostility because of being a Bengali.” They are fabricated narratives meant to divide people.
Chakraborty’s comments follow Mamata’s declarations at the Martyrs’ Day Program on July 21, where she announced a “language campaign” to combat perceived attacks against Bengali culture, identity, and language. The Chief Minister categorically rejected any plan to revise the state’s electoral list and promised to protest by organizing blockades at the Constitutional Offices.
Chakraborty, in his remarks on electoral reforms and the political landscape of the state, suggested that these changes might be a turning point. He called, without naming names, for an examination of the democratic practices that exist in the area.
The BJP’s leader has sparked intense debates and shed light on the broader battle over West Bengal’s cultural identity. Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress portrays itself as the protectors of Bengali tradition, but Chakraborty’s remarks suggest that unity and transparency are more important than divisive language.
