Bollywood Glam Meets Big Scam: Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra Lookout Notice in ₹60-Cr Fraud
A Mumbai Police lookout notice has been sent to Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband, Raj Kundra, regarding an alleged Rs 60 crore fraud. Celebrity couple accused of fraud in connection with an investment case for Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, their defunct company.
Economic Offences Wing has launched a comprehensive investigation, including a review of the travel records for Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra. According to sources, the auditor of the firm has been called in for an interview so that he can provide more details about the financial activities of the company. Deepak Kothari is the main accuser in this case. He claims that the couple has defrauded a large sum of money.
Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra, according to the complaint of Mr. Kothari, solicited 60 crore rupees from him between 2015 and 2030 under the pretense that they were expanding their businesses. He claims that instead, the money was used to pay for his personal expenses. In the complaint, it is further detailed that initially the funds were taken as loans but later reclassified as investments in the books of the company for allegedly tax-saving purposes.
Kothari claimed that assurances were given to him that the principal would be returned in a certain time frame, with interest of 12% per annum. Shilpa Shetty allegedly provided written personal guarantees in April 2016 to seal the deal. Just a few short months after the agreement was made, Shetty quit her role as director at the company. A businessman discovered that a case for insolvency of Rs 1,28 crore had been filed against the firm, which he wasn’t aware of when he invested.
