Prayagraj Encounter – Jharkhand’s notorious criminal Ashish Rajan alias “Chotu,” who had a reward of Rs 4 lakh on his head, was shot dead in a night-time encounter by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force in Prayagraj’s Shankargarh district, Wednesday. The operation was critical in neutralizing a criminal plot that had been planned for the area.
According to UP STF, they received information that Ashish Rajan, a wanted Dhanbad criminal, Jharkhand, was planning a major crime in Prayagraj. The STF team acted quickly and intercepted Ranjan at the Shivrajpur junction in Shankargarh. Ranjan fired an AK-47 pistol and a 9mm AK-47 upon being spotted. The STF’s counterfire critically injured Ranjan. He died during treatment. The AK-47, a pistol in 9mm, more than 30 bullets, and a motorbike were also found at the scene.
The police informed us that one of Ranjan’s accomplices escaped under the cover of night during the confrontation. This individual is being sought to be identified and arrested.
