Dhurandhar 2 Review: Ranveer Singh’s 4-Hour Action Epic Falls Short of the Original’s Fun Factor

Dhurandhar 2, the sequel to Aditya Dhar’s high-octane cinematic universe, has been released. Ranveer Singh stars as Hamza Ali Mazari – a patriotic spy who continues his deadly duel with Hamza Singh Rangi in the alleyways of Karachi’s underworld. The nearly four-hour marathon of action is filled with bombs, bazookas and blood. However, initial evaluations suggest that this film does not have the same ‘ maza,’ or sheer entertainment, that was found in the previous installment.
Dhurandhar 2, the sequel, picks up where Dhurandhar left off with explosive action scenes that feature jeeps racing around huge stretches of desert and an all-male group engaged in fierce battles. The narrative is unable to sustain momentum after a few action sequences. It tries to strike a balance between hyper-nationalism and heavy-handed dialogs but it often fails. The ISI Major is the only character who utters anti-India sentiments. It’s a shame that the inclusion of “Bada Sahab” was not as good as expected.

A leading film critic pointed out the lack of fan favorite characters, saying, “Dhurandhar 2 Movie Reviews: Ranveer keeps us looking throughout the slow-moving first half of Aditya Dhar’s film and the faster-paced post-interval, but you still miss Akshaye Khanna’s Rehman Dakait.” “Read the full review, including performance analysis, story and rating.”
Dhurandhar 2 had to match or exceed the explosive mix of action and catchy music that made part 1 so popular. The extreme violence of the first film left the audience so numb that this sequel’s vicious plots fail to shock. Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal, who play the ISI Major Iqbal and Arjun’s character, SP Chaudhury, are among the bazooka-toting characters in this film. However, their scenes often seem stretched and unfancied.
Dhurandhar 2 is also heavily influenced by political themes. It mixes fact with fiction in a very artistic way. This storyline portrays note-bandi as an event that happened in real life, and it is portrayed by R Madhavan, who plays IB Chief Ajay. The hyper-masculine, slow-motion striding, as well as the constant jingoism of the film’s narrative, are soon forgotten by the audience.

Ranveer remains Dhurandhar 2’s anchor despite the pace issues. The audience is kept engaged by his captivating performance. He seamlessly transitions from a steely stare to a soft smile. Hamza’s burning passion is a result of the pain that Jaskirat has endured. Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi and Gaurav Gera make the best of their screen time. A surprising ending leaves room for future adventures.
Dhurandhar 2, the sequel to Dhurandhar, invites viewers to discuss and share their opinions about its successes and failures. To build a film community, fans are invited to post comments on the official site, to share personal reviews via social media and to read a comprehensive analysis of the story.
