Diwali Lakshmi Puja: Complete Puja Guidelines and Auspicious Time Muhurats Announced

Hindus in India prepare for Diwali Lakshmi Puja, to be celebrated on October 20, 2025. The Drik Panchang states that the holy rituals dedicated to Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi will be performed at specific times in different Indian cities.
Diwali Lakshmi puja is a sacred Hindu ritual performed by millions of Hindus to bring blessings of wealth and prosperity. This puja is to be performed during Amavasya Tithi, which starts at 3:44 pm on October 20, 2025, and ends at 5:54 pm on October 21, 2025.
New Delhi’s most auspicious Diwali Lakshmi Puja is from 8:18 to 9:08 pm. The timings differ significantly between cities, according to local calculations. Mumbai’s devotees can perform their puja from 7:41 to 8:41 pm, while Chennai has a time window between 7:20 8;14 pm. Kolkata and Bhubaneswar are unique in their timings. Their muhurat falls on October 21, from 5:06 to 5:54 pm, and respectively, 5:19 to 5:54 pm.
The religious scholars suggest that the Diwali Lakshmi Puja should be performed at specific auspicious times. Pradosh Kaal runs from 5:46 to 8:18 pm, and Vrishabha Kaal from 7:08 to 9:03 pm. Mahanishita Kaal is available for those who prefer late-night worship. It takes place between 11:41 pm and 12:31 am on Sunday, October 21.
Diwali Lakshmi Puja is a traditional Diwali Puja that requires early morning preparations. Before performing the puja, worshippers are expected to wake up early, put on new clothes, and do Shradh. Most devotees fast for a full day, and only break their fast after the Lakshmi Puja ceremony in the evening.
The preparations for Diwali Lakshmi Puja in 2025 include a lot of home decoration. The devotees decorate their houses and offices using marigold flowers and Ashoka, banana, and mango leaves. It is believed to be auspicious to place a Kalash with an unpeeled coconut on either side of the entrance.

Chara is the best time to conduct evening ceremonies from 5:46 to 7:21 pm, and Labha from 10:31 to 12:06 am on October 21.
