On August 10, PM Modi Will Inaugurate the Yellow Line of Bengaluru metro and Launch Phase-3 Expansion
Bengaluru (India): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate on August 10 the 19.15 km Yellow Line, which connects RV Road and Bommasandra. The event also marks the start of Phase 3 of the Bengaluru Metro’s 44.65 km expansion.
It is estimated that the Yellow Line will serve nearly 8 lakh commuters daily. The Yellow Line was constructed with an investment of 50567.99 crore and features 16 stations. The Yellow Line will improve connectivity between the southern Bengaluru residential areas and Electronic City’s industrial corridors while reducing traffic at the notorious Silk Board Junction.
The Prime Minister will also lay the groundwork for the Phase 3 expansion of Namma Metro, which is expected to cost Rs 15,611 crores. This expansion was approved in the first 100 days of Modi 3.0. It includes 31 stations and two new lines, covering a distance of 44.65 km. The improved access to the metro will be beneficial for underserved areas, such as Magadi Road or the western Outer Ring Road. This project will be finished by 2029.
Phase 3, once operational, will link JP Nagar Fourth Phase to Kempapura Hebbal and Hosahalli Kadabagere. Gorguntepalya Road, Magadi Road, and Mysuru Road are covered in portions. This project demonstrates the commitment of the government to provide robust public transportation for Bengaluru’s growing and dynamic population.
Manohar Khattar, Union Minister for Urban and Home Affairs, shared, “I’m pleased to share that the Honorable Prime Minister of India will kindly agree to inaugurate the Yellow Line on August 10 officially and lay the Foundation Stone for Phase 3.”
Tejasvi Surya, MP for Bengaluru South, called the event a “landmark” moment and thanked Prime Minister Modi. He said, “With almost Rs 20,000 billion worth of Metro infrastructure committed to just this region, we’re incredibly thankful to PM Modi. We appreciate his focus, love, and dedication to Bengaluru South’s public transport infrastructure.”
