Roblox Games is the leader in mobile games, with the highest earnings chart, thanks to the use of In-App Purchases (IAP). The longtime leader Honour of Kings has fallen to the third position, which highlights a change in spending patterns. This shows how Roblox is still popular with gamers around the world, including in India.
MobileGamer.biz has reported the latest AppMagic data, which shows that Roblox generated $122.2 million in IAPs during the last month. The platform had a strong performance in August and July, earning $152 million and $150 million, respectively. These figures don’t include any revenue generated from web-based advertising or spending. Apple and Google also take a 30% cut.
The surge in popularity of Roblox is not limited to the game. Honour of Kings was also overtaken by LastWarm: Survival to claim the second place.
Tencent’s mixed fortunes
While Roblox games are celebrating their successes, some of Tencent’s largest titles have had a more difficult month. Honour of Kings saw a drop of $57,000,000 in IAP revenue from August’s total of $173,000,000 to September’s $116,000,000.
The drop was more dramatic for PUBG Mobile. This is one of the top mobile shooters. It dropped five places on the charts, going from third place to eighth. The IAP revenue fell from $132m in August to $77m in September. This is a $55m drop. This is the lowest revenue month for PUBG Mobile in December last year. A collaboration with the Sonic the Hedgehog series could give the game a boost.
Tencent is still a major player in the game charts despite these setbacks. Tencent still has five top positions, with games like Delta Force and Dungeon & Fighter: Origins performing well.
The Top 10 Performers
Other popular mobile titles were also included in the top 10 highest-grossing games. Kingshot, Monopoly Go and Whiteout Survival all made the list, proving their ability to continue to draw in players.
