Trinamool Congress Blames the BJP for the Shatrughan Sinha Missing Posters in Bengal

A political controversy erupted in Asansol after posters claiming that local MP Shatrughan Singh was “missing” appeared all over the place during the Chhath Puja Festival. Posters with the Hindi “Laapata Sansad” (Missing Member of Parliament) appeared in Asansol, West Bengal, during the Chhath Puja festival. The ruling Trinamool Congress and opposition Bharatiya Janata Party both accused each other of orchestrating the event.
The posters, which questioned the absence of the actor-turned-politician from his constituency, were prominently displayed, drawing significant public attention. Their appearance at Chhath Puja – a festival of great importance in the area – amplified their political impact. This suggests that the campaign aimed to draw attention to the MP’s apparent disconnect with his constituents during a critical time. Many have speculated whether Shatrughan is really missing his duties as an MP or if it is just a political stunt.
Trinamool Congress condemned the posters immediately, blaming the BJP. TMC’s spokesperson accused opposition politicians of playing dirty politics in order to cover up their political incompetence. According to the party, the posters were a deliberate effort by the BJP in order to mislead and malign Shatrughan Sinha. They viewed the action as a sign that the BJP was desperate and had no substantive issues on which to run a campaign.
The BJP responded by officially denying any involvement with the creation or distribution of the posters. Party officials used the disavowal of the act to criticize Sinha, sarcastically mocking his supposed absence from his constituency. BJP leaders claimed that posters reflected the frustration of the public over Sinha’s inability to be visible and engage with local issues. The public has begun to question the validity of the “Shatrughan Sinha missing” allegations.
