Film Based murder case of Raja Raghuvanshi: Titled ‘Honeymoon In Shillong’

A story of betrayal and tragedy is about to take centre stage on screen with the announcement by filmmakers that their new project, The Honeymoon In Shillong. The film is based on the shocking murder of transport businessman Raja Raghuvanshi and promises to solve the mystery of one of the worst crimes of recent times.

The script of the movie has been completed, announced director SP Nimbawat on Tuesday. The team says that 80 per cent will be shot at Indore, where the story started, and the rest will be in Shillong in Meghalaya to capture the key aspects of the setting.

The Journey to the Truth

The film director and the production team met with Raja Raghuvanshi’s family on Tuesday for a detailed discussion of the events that led up to his tragic death. The team spent time with Vipin, Raja Raghuvanshi’s brother, to gather key information and events to portray the story on film accurately.

In his remarks about the film, director SP Nimbawat stressed the mission of the film to reveal and expose the truth. The purpose of the film is to shed light on events leading up to this tragic incident, and to honour Raja. The project’s sole focus is on the truth of what occurred and does not have any connection with other sensationalised stories.

Nimbawat said that the casting of the film was underway and that Bollywood’s top talent is being considered for important roles. After returning to Mumbai, the director will finalise his cast. Further announcements are expected shortly.

The heartbreaking crime behind the film

The story behind Shillong has captured the attention of the entire nation. Raja Raghuvanshi from Indore married Sonam on May 11 in a lavish ceremony. Nine days after their wedding, on May 20, they left for Shillong on their honeymoon. Their trip, however, took a darker turn on May 23, when they both disappeared. Raja was found dead at Wei Sawdong Falls on June 2. The injuries to his neck indicated foul play.

The investigation revealed that Sonam Kushwaha, Raja’s spouse, and her accomplices orchestrated a terrifying conspiracy in conjunction with Raj Kushwaha, Sonam’s lover. Eight people, including Sonam, Raj and others, were arrested in the case. Legal proceedings are still ongoing, but three accused remain on bail.

Nimbawat said that he wanted to show the impact the crime had on Raja, his family and the community. He also wanted the storyline to be compelling. We hope that this film will serve as a reflection of society and show the damaging consequences of misplaced trust and betrayed relationships. We must ensure that Raja’s tragic story is presented respectfully and honestly, to shed light on all the details.

Release Dates and Production Plans

The team of Honeymoon In Shillong has been preparing to start principal photography later this year. Shillong and Indore will be the main filming locations. The filmmakers are convinced that these locations, known for their beauty and scenic appeal, will add authenticity to the story and allow viewers to be immersed in the darkness and romance of this true crime.

The director has assured the audience that while casting details and production information are still under wraps, the film will have the emotional intensity, suspenseful pace and character development necessary to give justice to the plot.
