SpiceJet Flight Lands in Mumbai Safely After Losing Landing Equipment During Takeoff

A Mumbai-bound SpiceJet Flight, SG2906, suffered a serious issue on takeoff at Kandla Airport in Gujarat and lost a piece of the landing gear. Despite this incident, SpiceJet continued to fly and made a safe touchdown at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. This ensured the safety of passengers and crew.

Bombardier DHC8 400, or Dash 8 Q400 as it is also called, left Kandla at 2:39 pm. Officials claim that the tower controller at the airport saw a large, black object detached from the aircraft as it rose from runway 23. Later identified as part of the landing gear, the object fell on the runway. The airport staff immediately confirmed that a wheel of the landing gear and its associated rings were on the runway. The DHC8 is equipped with a tricycle landing system that includes four main and two nose wheels.

Mumbai Airport authorities responded to this situation by taking precautionary steps to prepare for the arrival of the SpiceJet Flight. The airport declared a full emergency to make sure all safety procedures were followed. A full emergency at Mumbai Airport was declared by an official source as a safety precaution for the arrival flight.
